Some people seek out unique experiences, fun tours and things to do. I’m different…
Here’s my actual list of stores that I wanted to check out on our last trip to New York City.
NHL Store
As a hockey fan, my goal was to experience everything that the office NHL store had in…store. We found exclusive NHL New York merchandise, game-worn pucks/gear and an environment that spoke to me.

NBA Store
There was a lot of time spent within the store on our last trip, which gave us the opportunity to really see the day-to-day interactions with guests and staff.
Observations can be put into a column of ‘retail’ vs ‘experience’, and there are times when the pendulum swings one side to the other. This is the case when you hire for someone to stock the shelves or ring up transactions in a store that showcases a sport – because what happens when a mega fan comes in and the staff aren’t up on the latest piece of news.
With three-levels and dozens of well-merchandised areas, including an authentic signed memorabilia shop-in-shop, there’s enough to put this store on your to-do list.

Disney Store Times Square
As a former Disney cast member, this was on my list from the get-go. In fact, I had a list of things to do on our trip and this store was on it!
There are things to keep in mind with this store, as it’s starting to really show its age and lack of direction. When Disney shuttered the entire Disney Store chain, there were a handful of stores that remained – including the Times Square store. It’s still classified as an “Imagination Park” concept, with wooden floors surrounding icons like the castle and the ‘key to the store’.
What’s going to happen with this store – only time with tell. For the time being though, it’s still worth the visit.
